Homeostasis Song, Rap or Poem
Compose and original work describing the similarities and differences between active and passive transport, and examples of each. You may make a parody of a popular song, but credit needs to be given to the original artist. However, copying an existing work will be considered plagiarism and your project will not be scored. Your song, poem or rap needs to meet the following guidelines:
Your completed product can be submitted in a number of ways:
Regardless of your choice, you must submit both a recording of your work AND a print copy of the lyrics/words.
Up to 20 points will be awarded for this portion of the project, based on the following criteria:
- Songs and raps should be approximately two minutes in length. Poems should be approximately 25 lines long.
- Compare and contrast passive and active transport.
- Discuss three examples of passive transport.
- Discuss three examples of active transport.
- Be responsible in your word choice, making sure your lyrics avoid language or inappropriate content.
Your completed product can be submitted in a number of ways:
- Record your song, rap, or poem as an audio file (such as a .wav file or mp3) and save it on a CD/DVD/flash-drive, or submit it by email.
- Upload a performance of your work to YouTube.
- Schedule a live performance for either Mr. Hester or the class.

Up to 20 points will be awarded for this portion of the project, based on the following criteria:
- 10 points - Information contained within the rap, song or poem is complete and correct.
- 5 points - Written copy of lyrics is complete, error-free, and meets the length requirement.
- 5 points - Creativity is evident.
